Boorong / Wergaia

Warepil

Warepil is the Boorong wedge-tailed eagle at Sirius, wings spread across neighbouring stars.

Stanbridge placed the chief of the Nurrumbunguttias at the brightest star in the night sky. Museums Victoria notes that other Victorian peoples connect an eagle to Altair instead. Same bird, different stars, different Nations.

That is why this catalog is a switcher. Warepil lives in the Boorong pack. It does not appear in the Gamilaraay sky as a secret extra eagle.

In /sky, Sirius is labelled Warepil only while Boorong is active. The star itself is shared physics. The name is not.

Mercury 91 is not affiliated with any Aboriginal Land Council, Torres Strait Islander organisation, museum, or Stellarium. This library cites published ethnoastronomy. It is not a partnership and not a single pan-Aboriginal sky.
