Privacy Controls and Encryption

Private dreams: Title and dream text are encrypted on your device (AES-GCM) before upload. Only your signed-in account can decrypt private dream content.

Planet journal widgets: Private widget content is encrypted client-side before storage.

What we can see: We do not have server-side access to plaintext private dreams or encrypted widgets. Public content remains readable as intended for sharing.

Service Providers

We use trusted service providers to operate Mercury 91, including:

  • Authentication and cloud database providers
  • Cloud media storage
  • Payment processor (hosted checkout; we do not store card numbers)
  • Email delivery platform
  • AI providers for optional dream analysis (platform or your own keys)
  • Analytics and error monitoring (with consent where required)
  • Bot protection and security services

Data may be processed in Australia, the United States, and other countries where these providers operate. We implement appropriate contractual and technical safeguards for international transfers.

Data Retention

  • Active account data is kept while your account exists
  • When you delete your account, we remove your data from our systems (subject to backup cycles)
  • Server logs are retained for approximately 90 days
  • Stale unpaid signups may be removed after 7 days

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

  • Access and download your personal information (profile export)
  • Correct inaccurate information (profile settings)

You may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you have concerns we cannot resolve.

European Economic Area and United Kingdom

If you are in the EEA or UK, you have GDPR rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Our lawful bases include contract (providing the service), consent (marketing and analytics), and legitimate interests (security).
