Ngalindi
Ngalindi is the Yolŋu Moon-man. Phases are his body cut down, three days dead, then fat again.
He is lazy, or worse, in different published versions. Wives and sons chop him thinner. He climbs a tree after the Sun. He dies. He returns. Until he first died, people did not stay dead. His curse ends that.
Tiwi Japara is a different Moon-man with overlapping motifs (three days, wounds, crabs). This page does not merge them.
The catalog shows phases as a labelled Moon in the Yolŋu pack. It does not illustrate violence beyond the published children’s outline.
